Below are just a few ideas or strategies for making technological tools work in your classroom.
- Teachers can use technology to assess student understanding of learning standards. There's a difference between knowledge and mastery of the tools used to show knowledge. A struggling reader may not be able to prove they have mastered concepts using pencil and paper, but can do so verbally using some of the speech-to-text tools.
- Find creative and engaging ways to help kids use technology in the Project Based Learning process. For example, let kids use a math app or learning platform such as Moby Max Math or Prodigy to solve problems, but have them only solve half of the problem before switching with a partner. They can finish each other's problem and then discuss the solutions.
- WolframAlpha (https://www.wolframalpha.com/) is a resource that can be used like an encyclopedia to assist students with project development.
- ChatGPT can be used to summarize a passage, and then students can discuss and debate the accuracy of the given summary or answer, supported by text evidence.
